Culinary Arts is the study of preparing, cooking, and presenting food. This has grown in demand and popularity as more and more cuisines are out in the open! Culinary arts schools will hone you to be the best chef or pastry artist! You’ll gain a deep understanding of the art (and joy!) of cooking, too.
Several schools abroad provide great programs for this course! Here are eight of the many culinary arts schools abroad!
1. Florence Culinary Arts School
Running for 35 years now, the Florence Culinary Arts School is among the most renowned culinary arts schools in Italy. The programs immerse you in Italian cuisine, both traditional and modern. Different training is available ranging one to two months. As soon as you complete the Chef Training Program, you will be eligible to apply for the FCAS internship program and experience what it’s like to be in the culinary workforce in Italy.
2. HRC Culinary Academy
Founded in 2008, the HRC Culinary Academy is located in Bulgaria. The school offers a 2-year culinary degree program that allows students to learn through hands-on experiences from notable chefs in the industry. The school also offers other classes such as Cost Control, Food Photography, and Management and Leadership to equip students with extra skills.
3. Le Cordon Bleu
First established in Paris in 1895, Le Cordon Bleu remains to be one of the most prominent culinary schools in the world. With over 20,000 students every year, Le Cordon Bleu produces competent chefs through providing comprehensive culinary arts courses. Today, the school has several campuses around the world, from America to Australia, and even one here in the Philippines!
4. Tante Marie Culinary Academy
As the United Kingdom’s longest established cooking academy, Tante Marie Culinary Academy continues to be one of the most competent schools in Europe. The cookery courses offered have a Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Assessment in Marine Cookery.
Food Safety is a one-day course that puts emphasis on how to keep the food safe. that is relevant for someone working in the kitchen, as it’ll be your duty to ensure both quality and safety of the food.
Marine cookery, on the other hand, is for individuals who wish to obtain the Ships’ Cook Certificate of Competency. This 5-day program tackles the preparation of food and aims to assess skills in a practical kitchen.
5. International Culinary Center
Formerly known as the French International Culinary Center, the International Culinary Center provides a short but intensive program. Students can choose between the day program, which is 6 months long, and night classes, which last about 9 months. The program equips students with classic techniques originating in France, applied to Western cuisine. The school has now moved to New York City.
6. Italian Chef Academy
The Italian Chef Academy provides a variety of courses from Professional Chef and Pastry Courses to Masters in Culinary Arts. Each program is designed differently, catering to a specific target audience. The Professional Chef Course is designed for individuals who wish to learn more about modern cooking technologies and the wine sector. On the other hand, the Professional Pastry Course specializes in the fundamentals of crafting the perfect dessert, from tea biscuits to sponge cakes. Lastly, the Masters in Culinary Arts is a more comprehensive and in-depth course, tackling all aspects of wine and food.
7. L’Atelier des Sens
Located in France, L’Atelier des Sens is famous for its cooking classes and workshops. With a maximum of 12 participants only, classes are small and as interactive and hands-on as possible. This is not only popular for students but tourists as well! Classes are offered in both French and in English. You may select the timeframe of your class, from one to four hours.
8. Culinary Institute of America
Located in New York, the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) offers a unique experience. Need an extra nudge? One of its notable alumni is the late and great Anthony Bourdain. This school provides experiential learning, from its extensive programs of culinary, baking, and pastry arts, internships, to its study abroad program. The school also has branches in Napa, Texas, and Singapore.
Culinary arts is one of the most in-demand courses in this day and age!
